ILAC Acquires Global Village Vancouver IELTS Test Centre

Press release

VANCOUVER: As of July 1st, 2020, the International Language Academy of Canada (ILAC) will become the official new home of the IELTS test centre formerly run by Global Village Vancouver. The newly acquired IELTS testing centre will move to ILAC Vancouver with its existing testing team and computer labs.

“We are very sad to see Global Village Vancouver have to close their doors as a result of COVID-19”, says Jonathan Kolber, CEO of ILAC. “Global Village Vancouver is one of the pioneers of our industry, especially for their testing and exam prep, and we are very grateful that they have allowed us to take over their IELTS test centre.”

The new IELTS test centre at ILAC will offer a choice of two versions of the IELTS exam, the IELTS Academic Exam and IELTS General Training Exam. Registrations will continue to be accepted through the www.ieltsvancouver.com website and tests will be initially offered five days a week at the new ILAC location starting July 11th, 2020.

“The testing team at Global Village Vancouver has grown to over 200 highly trained testing experts over the last decade and we are delighted to become part of the ILAC family,” says Loretta Revoczi, who is the Business Development Manager for the test centre. “This is an incredible opportunity for the centre to continue to develop with a reputable and forward thinking organization.”

ILAC already offers full-time, part-time and evening classes in IELTS preparation and will now also provide full-service IELTS support for students and new immigrants to help them achieve their goals. In Canada, IELTS is used as a measure of English language proficiency for immigration, skilled worker applications, university and college entrance requirements and professional designations.

The new ILAC IELTS Test Centre will be one of the biggest in the world, with 14 venues across British Columbia and the Yukon. With this acquisition, ILAC has an ambitious plan to expand testing into Toronto and across Canada.

“We are very proud to be working with ILAC on this transition,” says Monica Aguirre, Stakeholder Relations and Business Development Manager at IDP, which is a co-owner of the IELTS test. “ILAC is a long-standing member of the international education community and ideal partner for IDP IELTS.”
