What to do in Toronto During the Summer

Visit the Toronto Islands

The Toronto Islands are a group of 15 small islands that are only a short ferry ride from the city. Offering plenty of cycling, hiking, and walking opportunities, these islands are the biggest urban car-free community in North America. The island is open year-round with the best time to visit during the summer when the weather is warm, and the beaches are open. They have several beaches, restaurants, an amusement park, and a small farm with a petting zoo. There is no shortage of fun activities to participate in on these islands!

The EdgeWalk at the CN Tower

If you are looking for a thrill, the EdgeWalk at the iconic CN Tower is the place to go! Certified by Guinness World Records as the highest external walk on a building, this experience is one of a kind. Visitors are attached to a safety rail via a harness system that allows for a full circular experience. The experience is led by trained EdgeWalk guides who ensure the safety of all participants. After the walk enjoy what the CN Tower has to offer indoors, such as its observation deck, glass floor, and the revolving 360 Restaurant.

Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) on the Island

Stand Up Paddle Boarding is a fun way to explore Toronto’s waterways. Visitors can rent a board and paddle around the islands while enjoying the beautiful scenery. Lessons and guided tours are available where visitors can learn about the history of the island. This activity is a great way to exercise and enjoy the outdoors. A sunset paddle experience is also available where participants can choose either a paddle board or kayak and go out on the water as the sun is setting and the city lights are turning on. Stand Up Paddle Boarding is a fun activity for people of all ages and skill levels.

Pedestrian Sundays at Kensington Market

Kensington Market is a bustling area filled with artists, cafés, unique shops, and great restaurants. On Sundays in May to October from 12 PM – 7 PM, the street is closed to vehicles, allowing pedestrians to stroll the neighbourhood worry-free of car traffic. Sundays at the Market have been hosting thousands of people from across the Greater Toronto Area for 18 years. There are tons of great food, poetry, dance, and much more. There is something available for everyone.

Toronto has a large variety of activities available during the summer. The weather is beautiful during the summer months and residents love to take advantage of it by getting outside and experiencing the many things the city has to offer.
