Join us! ILAC Virtual Run

This October 10th, join international education colleagues around the world for the first ever ILAC Virtual Run. Participants can run or walk as part of the global movement to promote health and wellness during COVID-19.

The purpose of the event is to bring together the international education community during these challenging times. The virtual run consists of three distances: 5km, 10km or for those feeling ambitious, a half marathon of 21.1km.

The run can be completed by running, walking or by wheelchair. “We wanted to create something that we can do on our own but together,” says Magda Link, VP of HR and Communications at ILAC. “Since we can’t meet in person this year, a virtual run allows us to share in a common experience from anywhere in the world.”

Running is considered an excellent way to help boost serotonin in the body, relieve stress, improve sleep and help maintain a healthy weight.

The ILAC Virtual Run will take place on October 10th, which the World Health Organization (WHO) has officially named World Mental Health Day. October is also Healthy Workplace Month in Canada, which focuses on building awareness about stress at work.

Training for the ILAC Virtual Run begins this week and ILAC is encouraging participants to share their progress along the way with videos, photos and testimonials using the hashtags #ILACrun, #ILACSafe and #bettertogether.

“I run because I love it, but also because our family of three likes to stay active together and it keeps me sane,” says Magda, who is an avid runner. “In a time that has forced many of us to sit for hours in front of our screens, taking care of our physical and mental health is the best gift we can give ourselves and the people we love.”

Everyone is welcome to join the ILAC Virtual Run and there is no cost to register. Participants will be added to a mailing group to stay connected, share training updates and gain expert advice.
