International Students Enjoy the Canadian Weather at the ILAC Summer Love Party

Wearing flowered dresses, surfboard shorts and flip-flops, over 500 ILAC students gathered at the Distillery District in Toronto over the long weekend for the first ever ILAC Summer Love Party.

Students were told to dress in their favourite beach clothes to celebrate one of the hottest Toronto summers on record.  The party was a chance for students to meet outside of their classes at ILAC and included free food and drinks for students over 19 years of age.

The ILAC Summer Love Party featured three different types of music for students to enjoy: on the Archeo Patio a DJ played Latin music, on the Boiler House patio there was a lounge ambiance with house music and inside the club students danced to top 40 hits from around the world.

In addition to music, there were professional hula hoop performers who taught the students how to twirl toy hoops around their waists, limbs and necks.  After the show, ILAC students competed against one another for a variety of prizes.  The 1st place prize was a three-day trip to Quebec, Montreal and Ottawa valued at $234 which went to Izumi Hiraishi.  2nd place went to Carla Monteiro for a trip to Algonquin Park worth $79. The 3rd place prize was won by Angeli Ang for a day at Paramount Canada’s Wonderland worth $50 and the 4th place winner was Brenda Rodrigues Coutinho, who won a visit to Niagara Falls worth $44.
