ILAC Update: Visas, Pathway Programs & English Testing

Just because the world is on “pause” doesn’t mean international students can’t begin their studies in Canada. Check out the latest good news for students who were planning to come to Canada in 2020. 

Study online now and come to Canada later 

Canada has relaxed its immigration rules for international students. Students who received a study permit for Spring 2020 are now permitted to do 50% of their programs online.   

International students who complete half their program online and the rest in Canada may still be eligible for the Canadian Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) at public post-secondary institutions.  Read the full story in the ICEF Monitor. 

University pathway programs on ILAC KISS 

Many colleges and universities across Canada have cancelled ESL classes this May. ILAC KISS is running pathway programs so students can continue their study plans in time for September 2020. 

Currently, there are 870 full time students studying pathway in ILAC KISS virtual classrooms. 

Students who were planning to enter college or university in the fall can now complete all the required courses online – and at a fraction of the cost. Classes are offered live and in real-time from Toronto and Vancouver. Learn more about ILAC KISS and sign up today! 

NEW! The ILAC Occupational English Test (IOET) 

ILAC is launching its own proprietary test to measure student fluency for entering the Canadian job market. The ILAC Occupational English Test (IOET) has equivalencies with all major English proficiency tests. 

The IOET will help determine the types of jobs international students can apply for when completing their co-op at ILAC International College

ILAC is also planning to launch the ILAC English Academic Test (IEAT) for students intending to study higher education in Canada and to be used for all students in the ILAC pathway programs. 

 

ILAC has developed a number of proprietary tests for students to determine their level and measure their progress online, including the full suite of practice tests – KET, PET, FCE, CAE, IELTS & TOEFLTake the free ILAC online self-assessment level test as a guide. 

 

Canada continues to have travel restrictionto prevent the spread of COVID 19.
