ILAC Student Receives Scholarship for Royal Roads University in Canada

An ILAC student from Kazakhstan was recently awarded a $2,000 CAD scholarship to study at Royal Roads University (RRU) in Canada. Tatyana Tsoy is the first prize winner of the “Go Global” scholarship for undergraduate international students which ran last month.

Students were asked to write a 250-500 word response to the question ‘Why is a degree program with an international orientation more advantageous than a degree without?’ Tatyana’s winning essay describes the benefits of sharing knowledge, culture, and experience.

Tatyana first heard about Royal Roads while studying English at ILAC. She learned about the competition, held by RRU’s International Study Centre, at a presentation on campus and soon afterwards submitted her application and essay.

“As English is my second language and I want to study at university, I had some doubts and insecurities,” says Tatyana. “But after I took first place in the scholarship competition my doubts have disappeared. This competition gave me confidence in myself.”

The scholarship will go towards Tatyana’s first semester of a degree in International Hotel Management at Royal Roads University in Victoria, British Columbia.

ILAC sends 700 international students a year to over 40 universities and colleges across Canada. For more information about ILAC’s Academic Pathway program, please see
