First international students start classes at Georgian@ILAC in Toronto

The first cohort of international students started their classes at Georgian@ILAC this month in the Business Diploma and in the Post-Graduate Certificate in Project Management. Since the ILAC campus in Toronto is still closed for in-person classes, the students participated in an online orientation where they met their new instructors and other students from around the world. “I am very excited to welcome our new students to Georgian@ILAC,” says Chris Anstead, Dean of Business. “They are joining us as we make history with an innovative collaboration featuring the best that Georgian College, ILAC and Toronto have to offer.” Currently, half of the students are studying from their home countries while the other half are already in Canada, eagerly waiting for in-person classes to resume. In both cases, students were happy to be able to start online and get started on their programs. ILAC is famous for its diversity of students, and the first Georgian@ILAC generation comes from all over the world, including Sweden, Ukraine, Turkey, Macedonia, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Jordan, India and Vietnam. “Their journey will be founded on a proven curriculum from Georgian College and ILAC’s well known excellence in international student support,” says Anstead. “Our instructors are committed to helping our students achieve their goals, whether they want to change careers, move into a more challenging role, or build a future in Canada.” Founded in 1967, Georgian College is a public college located in Barrie, with seven other satellite campuses in smaller cities. It is the only college in Canada designated a changemaker college by Ashoka U for its social innovation and changemaking in its culture, programming and operations. ILAC is a private sector education provider with deep and broad experience in educating international students in Canada. Now approaching its 25th year, ILAC is the largest and most awarded English language school in Canada. This September, Georgian@ILAC will also offer a post-graduate certificate in Global Business and then Human Resource Management in January 2022. In the fall, programs are expected to operate under a blended learning approach, which means students will have both online and in-person lessons in Toronto.
