Fanshawe College and ILAC open new Toronto campus

The International Language Academy of Canada (ILAC) and London-based Fanshawe College, recently celebrated the grand opening of a new campus in downtown Toronto currently serving more than 1,200 international students from 29 countries around the globe.

The ILAC Heart Campus, home to Fanshawe Toronto @ILAC and located at 655 Bay Street just south of Gerrard Street, is the 10th campus to join the ILAC Education Group in Canada.

Fanshawe Toronto @ILAC opened in 2022 to provide international students access to Fanshawe’s high-quality programming in downtown Toronto, including Hospitality and Tourism Operations Management, Gerontology, Addictions and Mental Health, Hospitality – Hotel and Resort Services Management, and Developmental Services Worker.

Fanshawe College President, Peter Devlin, said the College is excited to be partnering with ILAC to unlock the potential of students and employers alike by delivering its programming close to many student placement opportunities in the health care and hospitality industries.

“Fanshawe and ILAC are strongly aligned to offer a caring and supportive learning environment, a great student experience and programming that meets labour market needs,” said Devlin.

“When I started at ILAC a few months ago, I saw what a special relationship we have built with Fanshawe,” said John DeFranco, ILAC’s new CEO, at the official grand opening of the campus. “This partnership is built on a common belief that, working together, we can improve student experiences and create successful student outcomes, and that is exactly what we are doing.”

The new ILAC Heart Campus features:

  • 44 classrooms equipped with new technology
  • Labour demand focused programs
  • Quiet study areas for individual and group work
  • Student services that include health care, immigration and academic advising
  • Career and Co-op Services that prepare students for the work force
  • Food services operated by and for students

“Thank you to the Fanshawe team for helping us deliver an authentic Fanshawe experience in the heart of Toronto,” said DeFranco. “This impressive campus is an example of our commitment to this partnership, allowing us to create a space that inspires our students, faculty and staff every day.”

On June 23, Fanshawe Toronto @ILAC celebrated its first convocation with 130 graduates from around the world.
