Canada’s Vaccine Passport: What ILAC students need to know

Proof of vaccination is now required for the following non-essential places in both Ontario and British Columbia:

    • Restaurants (indoor and outdoor)
    • Pubs, bars and lounges (indoor and outdoor)
    • Sports arenas (indoor and outdoor)
    • Gyms
    • Theatres
    • Cinemas
    • Casinos
    • Most college and university campuses

ILAC students can provide the same proof of immunization they used to enter Canada, such as the ArriveCAN app and their passport.

TORONTO

Ontario’s COVID-19 vaccine passport came into effect on Wednesday, September 22.

Everyone must show certification of two doses of an approved vaccine along with photo identification.

The Ontario digital vaccine passport is expected to be ready by October 22. People who are vaccinated will be able to download a QR code to their phone.

VANCOUVER

B.C.’s COVID-19 vaccine card system came into effect on September 13.

Proof of immunization of one approved vaccine dose is required to access certain social and recreational events in British Columbia. Proof of a second dose will be required as of October 24.

When using the BC vaccine card, you can either show the QR code you received on your smartphone or show a printout. Students will be able to use the paper vaccination until September 27, after which only the BC Vaccine Card will be accepted.
