Canada as a Popular Study Destination

With more and more international students inquiring about higher education in Canada, ILAC has decided to highlight a few reasons why Canada is quickly becoming a new popular pathway destination for international students from all over the world.

This article was also shared on the pages of the Optima Study magazine.

Academic Excellence

Canadians give learning particular importance, and have established a first rate education system, meeting high government standards. According to the Canada Education Network, the country spends more on education (as a percentage of GDP), and is ranked among the top of the G-7 countries. The Canadian government contributes generously to the budgets of the universities and colleges, allowing the schools to build and upgrade modern, state-of-the-art facilities and to attract talented researchers and instructors. A Canadian degree or diploma is internationally recognized and respected. Canada’s universities and colleges offer innovative and dynamic programs in all academic and vocational areas. One of the most attractive features of Canada’s college programs is that industry leaders collaborate with the schools to develop the curriculum. Students have the advantage of learning from experts who are active in their professional field.

Affordable Education

Canada’s federal department of Education (Education in/au Canada) reports that the cost of living and tuition fees for international students are generally lower than in other countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom. Thus, Canada is often the preferred choice for college and university students.

Quality of Life

Quality of life in CanadaAccording to the UN, Canada offers one of the highest qualities of life in the world. Peaceful, safe and stable, the country provides a superior public health system, excellent infrastructure and a welcoming community that celebrates diversity. Studying in Canada will give you a multicultural experience. You will meet warm people who are open to other cultures.

An Exciting and Stimulating Campus Environment

Students are encouraged to get involved in activities on campus that extend beyond the classroom. From sports to music, to special interest groups, there are hundreds of ways to enrich your social experience and grow as a person and build valuable interpersonal skills. These extra-curricular activities help to develop well-rounded and talented individuals. Former ILAC student Netto Folanari from Brazil comments that he never imagined all the Education in Canadaopportunities he would have at university in Vancouver, and credits these out-of-class activities as giving him the confidence to meet new friends and to look for part-time work outside of school. Netto says: “I became very involved in the International Student Centre. I am volunteering whenever possible, and I love my job as a Student Ambassador, helping new international students arriving at school.”

Opportunity to Work in Canada

A very attractive component of studying in Canada is the opportunity to gain real-world hands-on work experience while studying at college or university. The schools collaborate closely with industry and business partners to give students the option to apply their classroom knowledge to a practical work experience. This valuable opportunity makes Work in Canadastudents job-ready when they graduate from their degree or diploma. The combination of theoretical and practical learning gives students a competitive advantage when applying for their first job in their field. Canadian schools take pride in the success of their students, and have on-campus career centres to help students, as they embark on the next stage of their life.
