Victoria Day Special: Where to go on Victoria Day in Toronto

Have you heard about Victoria Day yet? The long weekend is coming up and here are a few tips on what to do in and around Toronto around this particular time. This year, Victoria Day is on May 18th. Every year the date changes, since Queen Victoria’s birthday should be celebrated on the last Monday before May 25th.

Canada has been celebrating Victoria Day since 1845. Following the Queen’s death in 1901, it became a public holiday. For Canadians, Victoria Day is also an opportunity to celebrate the end of winter and beginning of summer weather. Attractions and parks reopen after a long winter. Below you will find some great ideas on how to enjoy your long weekend this May:

1. Enjoy the Fireworks at Canada’s Wonderland

Come see amazing fireworks in Canada’s Wonderland, one of the best nighttime attractions in the Toronto area! Spend the daytime on enjoying the roller coasters, then stay for the fireworks after dark.

2. Watch the fireworks from Ashbridge’s Bay Park

Go on a picnic in this stunning waterfront park! Take your skateboard or bike, or just relax and enjoy a peaceful walk by the lake. This park is known for having the best view of the Victoria Day fireworks.

3. Take a Tour of Niagara Falls and Queen Victoria Park

Niagara Falls is one of the most popular destinations in the world. Queen Victoria Park is located at the heart of Niagara Park, where you can experience the magnificent view and featured shows like the Coca Cola Concert Series.

4. Experience Some Magic at The Toronto International Circus Festival

5. Murdoch Mysteries Live

Come witness the final part of Murdoch Mysteries: The Infernal Device, on Saturday May 16th, in the heart of the Historic Distillery District. You will also see actors in costumes and can continue discussing the mysteries at an excellent restaurant in the area.
