ILAC Opens Toronto’s First “Dream House” for International Students

Toronto, July 18, 2018 – It started as a dream by ILAC founders Jonathan Kolber and Ilan Cohen: to create an international student village in Toronto that would provide an outstanding and authentic community experience. This summer, the Toronto Dream House is officially open to students from around the world who want to live independently and with other foreign students in one of the trendiest neighbourhoods in Toronto.

“We wanted to give students an experience that is different from homestay or traditional residence,” says Ilan Cohen. “Accommodation is central to the student experience and living with other international students complements the learning that students have in class.”

The Dream House is made up of four free-standing houses that have been converted to accommodate a variety of different living arrangements. Located in a vibrant and uber cool Toronto neighbourhood close to ILAC and steps from shops, restaurants and cafes, the Dream House offers students privacy and independence while still being part of a community.

The upscale houses are all non-smoking and in total offer 32 bedrooms with keyless entry to private, semi-private and shared accommodations. Available throughout the year, each room features a single or double bed, large closet, desk, chair and full mirror. Individual floors are co-ed or separated for women and men and students must be at least 20 years old to live in the house.

Every Dream House is unique and has been professionally designed to reflect the modern boutique look and feel that the ILAC brand is known for. Features include colour-coded kitchen cupboards and dishes for each student, modern art and creative furniture in every room with a Canadian twist, and all amenities such as WI-FI, personal safe, designer sheets, towels, cooking utensils, microwave, soap, shampoo and conditioner, a hair dryer and even a clothes steamer.

Even though the Dream House is an ILAC initiative, it is open to all international students who study in Toronto. The project is managed by Concierge Property Managers Inc., which handles all landscaping, cleaning and maintenance, as well as provides on-site social activities throughout the week.

“International students can simply show up with their suitcase and fully immerse themselves in the real experience of living in Toronto,” says Razi Shawahdeh, owner of Concierge Property Managers Inc. “We already have plans for two more properties in the area so that students can automatically become part of a community when they come to study in Canada.”
