ILAC Higher Education Workshop | Toronto 2018

The ILAC Higher Education Workshop 2018 took place in Toronto from April 20 to 23. We had the honour of welcoming 155 agents from 25 different countries for a weekend filled with adventures, action, celebrations, and more importantly, to meet with 70+ representatives from top Canadian colleges and universities, creating new partnerships and bonds.

The main goal of the workshop is to be a bridge between recruiting agents from all around the world and Canada’s top Colleges and Universities. Through ILAC’s University Pathway program, students are able to transition from General English courses into academic preparation to attend higher education institutions in Canada.

Agents not only had the opportunity to meet with representatives and discuss future partnerships but also got to know ILAC’s staff and facilities, as well as the city of Toronto, living the ILAC experience first hand.

“I’m surprised about the number of agents ILAC has brought to Canada, to this particular event. The quality is so good, every single agent that is here is really interested in bringing students not only to learn English but to higher education,” said Gabriela Facchini from Sheridan College.

For some, the ILAC Workshop was also a rewarding experience that will help them introduce their higher education institutions to students around the world.“We always see ILAC as the school that goes everywhere, that does tremendous marketing activities in the regions and promotes the Canadian education system, which we need, as the higher education institutes in Canada,” said Mustafa Aydin from Georgian College.

Welcome Reception @ InterContinental Yorkville

The ILAC Higher Education Workshop has started! Agents enjoyed a lovely welcome reception and dinner at InterContinental Toronto Yorkville, sponsored by Sheridan College. It was a great opportunity to mingle and let loose after a day of travelling and taking in the views of Downtown Toronto.

Presentations & Meetings

Networking is a crucial part of the ILAC Higher Education Workshop. Agents spent a full day attending presentations and having one-on-one meetings with 70+ representatives from ILAC Pathway partner institutions, building relationships and future opportunities. Delicious lunch at ILAC’s Dream Building was sponsored by Niagara College Canada and refreshment breaks by Algoma University and Northern College.

Dinner Reception

What a better way to end a busy day than with a dinner reception at the stunning Hart House, located in the heart of the city at University of Toronto’s campus. The event was sponsored by Braemar College Toronto and was a night to remember for agents and educators.

Business Meetings

Agents continued to have business meetings and presentations with colleges, universities and service providers, including ILAC’s “Zero Tech: Unplug to Connect” presentation by Founder and Co-President Jonathan Kolber. Lunch was sponsored by Thompson Rivers University – TRU World and the refreshment break was sponsored by IELTS IDP Education.

Red & Black Gala Dinner

Cheers to a successful workshop! Agents, partners, and service providers had a special night at the Gala Dinner sponsored by Seneca College. The Fermenting Cellar at the Distillery District was the perfect venue for guests to have a fun time filled with entertainment, surprise performances, and mouth-watering meals from around the world.
