Jonathan Kolber Talks about Canada, the Land of Opportunity, at CBIE 2014

As a leader in the international education market, ILAC was invited this November to the 48th Canada’s International Education Conference: “The Diplomacy of Knowledge and our Common Future”.

ILAC Executive Director Jonathan Kolber and Academic Pathway Directors Carolyn Bercu and Hande Coskun were pleased to represent ILAC at the conference.

This year event gathered Canada’s 150 member institutions, universities, colleges and language schools, which enroll over 1.2 million students from coast to coast.

Jonathan Kolber“It’s a great honour to address this group,” said Jonathan Kolber. “As most of you know, at ILAC we are great supporters of Canadian higher education and we recruit university students from over 70 countries.

This year we hope to pass the target of recruiting 1000 students to your fine institutions. We couldn’t do it without our academic pathway team, and more importantly, without the quality of the education Canadian institutions offer.

We are proud that you are innovating and developing programs to meet the needs of international students without compromising academic integrity. This is unique to Canada, as we see universities around the world diluting their quality and their brands by creating new programs and relaxing their academic standards in order to gain more international students.

We are proud to promote Canada as having the best higher education system in the world and, equally, as the real “land of opportunity” for the world’s best and brightest minds. Many will study and stay here as new Canadians, making great contributions to our future economy, and many will return to their countries with strong bonds to Canada which they developed while being students here. They will be Canada’s future ambassadors.

ILAC at CBIE 2014According to an annual global report, released by the CBIE on November 21, 2014, “55% of international students intend to pursue additional studies in Canada following their current program, and 50% of international students intend to apply for permanent resident status in Canada in the future.” It proves the  importance of educational institutions like ILAC, which helps international students to enter Canada’s colleges and universities and become valuable members of Canada’s society.
