CELPIP stands for the Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program. It’s an English test used for immigration and citizenship applications in Canada. It tests your listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills.
For most Canadian permanent residency programs, the minimum CELPIP score required is CLB 4, but some programs may require higher scores (up to CLB 7) or award more points for higher scores. The CELPIP General test is the one designated by IRCC for permanent residency applications. The exact score needed depends on the immigration program and the NOC code associated with the applicant’s job offer.
Please make sure to verify any immigration-related information before publishing it. It’s important to ensure accuracy when referencing government policies to avoid misleading applicants and to protect our organization.
The preparation time required for the CELPIP test is highly individualized, with no fixed duration, as it primarily depends on a test-taker’s current English language proficiency, their commitment to consistent study, and their familiarity with both the specific test format and the computer-based testing tools like headphones. Those with strong English skills and comfort with digital examinations may need only a few weeks of focused practice, while others needing significant English improvement or technical adaptation might require several months of dedicated preparation.
