TESOL Course Description

100 instructional hours TESOL Diploma and TESOL Certificate:

The following topics are covered in the course

  • Teaching and learning theory
  • Current methodology
  • Lesson and unit planning
  • Teaching language systems (grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, functions)
  • Language skills (speaking, listening, writing, reading)
  • Testing and evaluation

Candidates are assessed on the following

  • An observation report
  • A progress test
  • An achievement test
  • A lesson planning task
  • A unit plan
  • Microteaching/practicum

Certification is achieved at a pass (70-79%), high pass (80-89%) or distinction level (90-100%).

The TESOL Diploma, with the 20-hour practicum, meets the guidelines of TESL Canada and CLC (Canada Language Council). With the TESOL Diploma you can teach ESL in Canada and abroad.

The TESOL Certificate, with 10 hour practicum option - 6 hours observation in ILAC classes and 4 hours of peer teaching, is recognized as an ESL teaching qualification overseas.
