Language Industry Association
Established in 1996, the Language Industry Association (AILIA – Association De L’Industrie De La Langue) has the mission to promote and increase the competitiveness of the Canadian language industry nationally and internationally through advocacy, accreditation and information sharing.

Objectives:
• Promote the interests of the language industry
• Act as a common base for action for all participants in the industry
• Become a forum for industry members
• Raise the visibility of the industry
• Put together initiatives to face industry challenges
• Develop common human resources strategies
• Promote innovation and R&D
• Facilitate networking between the industry and other public and private sector partners
• Become the essential industry representative for the public sector
• Stimulate the efforts of industry stakeholders both on the national and international levels
• Support the emergence of alliances and projects to expand the industry

Ailia’s major projects are based in the Working committees. These committees suggest directions and development activities to the Board of Directors, which may then be worked into business plans for the Association. These committees allow the members to participate in defining the directions of AILIA and of the industry, and keep the Association directly in touch with the realities faced by a very large number of members.

Several committees are currently at work:
• Translation Committee
• Human Resources Committee
• Communications Committee
• Technology Roadmap Committee and its four subcommittees:
    o Speech Processing
    o Translation
    o Content Management
    o Language Training

ILAC is a AILIA accredited member.
