MEET ILAC

Miho Saido Scallan was born in the Province of Saitama, Japan and came to Toronto, Canada in 2000. She has been working at ILAC since 2004 and today, she is responsible for student counseling, agent relationships and marketing strategies for some countries of the Asian and European markets.

The counselor’s main role is to manage the relationships with our educational agents and to assist students from the moment they register with ILAC to the moment they leave the school. Counselors can also be responsible for marketing strategies to specific markets - like Miho.

ILAC Times: What is your zodiac sign?
Miho: Scorpio.

ILAC Times: Where were you born?
Miho: I was born in the Province of Saitama, Japan but grew up in Tokyo.

ILAC Times: Do you have brothers or sisters?
Miho: No. Only child.

ILAC Times: What do you miss the most about home?
Miho: Friends.

ILAC Times: What’s the best place to go in your hometown?
Miho: You should go to a small bar in Tokyo. It is fun guaranteed for you and your friends.

ILAC Times: Are you married? For how long?
Miho: No. Common-law for four years.

ILAC Times: Any kids? How old?
Miho: A two-year-old son.


CANADA

ILAC Times: How long have you been in Canada?
Miho: Since 2000.


ILAC Times: What do you like the most about Canada?
Miho: I like the lifestyle. It is an easygoing life.

ILAC Times: Where have you been in Canada?
Miho: I have been to the Provinces of Quebec (Quebec City, Montreal) and Ontario (Toronto).

ILAC Times: Any favorite city?
Miho: Toronto.


TORONTO

ILAC Times: Why did you choose Toronto?
Miho: Because it was considered the best city to live in the world by a Japanese version of The Times Magazine – where I used to work.

ILAC Times: What do you like the most about Toronto?
Miho: Entertainment.

ILAC Times: Where to go?
Miho: Don’t miss the Toronto International Film Festival.

ILAC Times: Don’t go to?
Miho: Don’t go shopping at the Eaton Centre… it can be fatal to your wallet!!

ILAC Times: What is your major?
Miho: I have an Information Technology Bachelor's Degree.

ILAC Times: Where did you work before ILAC?
Miho: I worked as a freelancer for a big Bank and an IT company.

ILAC Times: How long have you been working at ILAC?
Miho: 3 years so far.

ILAC Times: What is your position?
Miho: Counselor and Assistant Marketing Director.

ILAC Times: What countries do you assist?
Miho: Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Hong-Kong, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Austria, Belarus, Germany, Poland, Romania, Sweden and Switzerland.

ILAC Times: What do you like the most about your work?
Miho: The environment is so refreshing. There are always new students and new stories to listen to.
